Two British-Israeli sisters killed in a shooting in the occupied West Bank have been named as Maia and Rina Dee.
The sisters were killed on Friday afternoon as they drove from their home in the settlement of Efrat to Tiberias.
Their car was driven off the road after being shot at by gunmen while their father had been driving ahead in a separate vehicle.
Their mother, Leah, remains in a critical condition in hospital.

"Poxa, porque a Argentina já descreveu 150 espécies de dinossauros e o Brasil só tem 23?", perguntou à época.
Com esse questionamento, nasceu a ideia de escrever um livro sobre os grandes répteis do passado que viveram onde identificamos hoje o território brasileiro.
Porém, passados alguns anos da primeira edição do texto, a obra já estava obsoleta.
"Nesses últimos 15 anos, o número de dinossauros identificados no Brasil se multiplicou e eu precisava fazer uma atualização", conta o pesquisador, que também é diretor da Estação Ciência da Universidade de São Paulo (USP).
Surgiu, assim, o livro Novo Guia Completo dos Dinossauros do Brasil, lançado recentemente pela Editora da USP (Edusp) e pela Editora Peirópolis.

Kenya To Use Local Currency To Buy Oil from Saudi Arabia. The US dollar has long been a cornerstone of global commerce, with its widespread acceptance and use elevating its value to unparalleled heights. However, a growing number of countries are now looking to break away from this dependency and explore alternative currencies. The once-unquestioned dominance of the dollar is being challenged, as nations seek to establish their own currencies as viable alternatives. In a bold move, Kenyan President William Ruto announced that his government will no longer buy fuel using the dollar, instead, he proposed a plan to purchase oil using the national currency, the Kenyan shilling.
Kenya aims to reduce its dependence on the US dollar and better manage its foreign exchange reserves by requiring fuel marketing companies to purchase petroleum products in Kenyan shillings through a credit system, as stated by Energy and Petroleum Cabinet Secretary Davis Chirchir. The agreement was signed by President William Ruto, who accused oil cartels of stockpiling US dollars, resulting in fuel shortages in Kenya due to increased importer demand. The move to buy oil in Kenyan shillings is expected to shield the country from the impacts of currency fluctuations and result in lower fuel prices.
“I want to assure those in Kenya who were facing challenges of access to dollars that we have taken steps to ensure dollar availability in the next couple of weeks; things are going to be different because our fuel companies will now be paying for fuel in KSH,” Ruto stated at the Nairobi Security Exchange.

At least 26 people have been killed after a series of tornadoes tore through towns and cities in the South and Midwest of the United States.
Homes were destroyed and thousands left without power after huge storms caused devastation across several states.
There have been more than 80 reported tornadoes since 31 March, according to the National Weather Service.

Protests have gripped the Kenyan capital Nairobi, with demonstrators taking to the streets over the country's cost of living crisis.
Kenyan police have fired tear gas and arrested several senior opposition politicians as hundreds of people protested against President William Ruto, who has been unable to down living costs since taking power in September. Kenyans are suffering from surging prices for basic necessities and a punishing drought that has left millions hungry. The country's opposition leader has called for the protests to go ahead.

Russia’s President Putin has warned that if the UK goes ahead with plans to supply Ukraine with shells containing depleted uranium, then Russia will be forced “to respond”.
The warning came on the second day of a visit to Moscow by China’s President Xi.
Vladimir Putin told the UK that Russia would be “forced to take action accordingly” if the UK supplies the weapons. He suggested it amounted to an escalation towards the use of nuclear arms.
In response the UK said depleted uranium had been used in munitions for decades and had nothing to do with nuclear weapons.
Depleted uranium’s great density and mass mean it can add to the effectiveness of armour-piercing weapons. However its use is controversial as the metal is radioactive and poisonous to humans and animals.

The death toll in Malawi from Tropical Storm Freddy rose to 99 on Monday, with 85 deaths recorded in the city of Blantyre alone, authorities have said.
The country is struggling to contain the effects of the storm, which has wreaked devastation in 10 of its southern region districts.
Heavy rains accompanied by strong winds have destroyed houses, washed away roads and bridges, flattened crop fields and disrupted power generation.
The Malawi government has declared a state of national disaster in the most affected districts.

South Africa’s President Cyril Ramaphosa has been re-elected leader of the governing African National Congress (ANC).
He defeated his former health minister Zweli Mkhize by 2,476 votes to 1,897.
The lead up to the vote at the party conference was not without scandal. The president has faced accusations of money laundering, and his rival was accused of corruption. Both deny the allegations.

A Republican member of the US Congress has introduced a resolution calling on the administration of President Joe Biden to review its relationship with South Africa following its hosting of joint-military exercises with China and Russia. The resolution by Representative John James of Michigan, which has been submitted to the House Foreign Affairs Committee, calls on the Government of South Africa to cancel all future military exercises with both aforementioned countries and to respect the United Nations Charter and publicly oppose what it calls "Russia's unjustified and unprovoked invasion of Ukraine".

At least 59 migrants, including 12 children, have died and dozens more are feared missing after their boat sank in rough seas off southern Italy.
The overloaded vessel broke apart while trying to land with at least 150 people aboard near the coastal town of Crotone in the Calabria region.
Many bodies have been recovered from the beach at a nearby seaside resort.
Large numbers of people fleeing conflict and poverty make the crossing from Africa to Italy each year.
Italy’s Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi, who visited the scene, said as many as 30 people may still be missing.
The coastguard said 80 people had been recovered alive, "including some who managed to reach the shore after the sinking".
The boat, which sailed from Turkey several days ago, was carrying passengers from Afghanistan, Pakistan, Somalia and Iran. President Sergio Mattarella said many were fleeing "very difficult conditions".
One survivor was arrested on migrant trafficking charges, customs police said.
The vessel is reported to have sunk after hitting rocks during rough weather.
A large rescue operation was mounted.

Streaming giant Netflix has announced plans to cut its prices in more than 30 countries.
With an increase in streaming services from rivals including Amazon, HBO and Disney, it is thought that the company is trying to attract new subscribers to the platform.
It comes at a time when the rising cost of living is seeing households tightening their belts.
The cuts apply to certain price plans, with subscription charges falling by half in some cases.

A 6.3 magnitude earthquake rattled Turkey on Monday night, according to the U.S. Geological Survey, even as the country is still cleaning up from one of the worst natural disasters in its history.
The quake was centered near the southern city of Samandag, located in Hatay province, which suffered catastrophic damage in the quake that struck on Feb. 6.
The latest earthquake came as officials from Turkey and Syria said the death toll from the 7.8 magnitude earthquake that struck two weeks ago has reached 46,957 total, with 41,156 in Turkey and 5,801 in Syria.

A 6.4 magnitude earthquake has struck southern Turkey, weeks after a deadly quake devastated the region.
Turkey's disaster and emergency agency Afad said the tremor occurred at 20.04 local time (17.04 GMT).
Witnesses told the Reuters news agency there had been further damage to buildings in Antakya.
A 7.8-magnitude quake struck the region on 6 February, killing more than 44,000 people in Turkey and Syria.

In recent weeks, many Nigerians have been left without cash to pay for vital items, due to shortages of newly designed naira banknotes.
As a result, violent protests broke out in several areas. In a bid to calm tensions, President Muhammadu Buhari announced that one of the three banknotes being phased out will be reintroduced into circulation.
Nigeria’s Central Bank launched newly designed 200, 500 and 1000 naira bank notes last November, aimed at curbing soaring inflation, cash hoarding and counterfeiting.

Days after parts of Turkey and Syria were devastated by earthquakes many communities are still waiting for any outside help.
Many thousands of people are known to have died and many more are feared to be trapped under rubble awaiting rescue.
Other survivors are living without food, shelter and water in freezing temperatures.
The scale of the disaster means that aid and rescue teams have only reached some areas, with many small rural communities completely isolated and abandoned.
International teams have begun arriving to help with rescue efforts and to support survivors but the level of need and suffering is enormous.

To reduce carbon emissions and meet climate goals, politicians in Oxford are attempting to restrict the number of times some vehicles can drive through the city each year while still allowing unlimited access via the City's ring road.

The United Nations has urged for an “immediate ceasefire” in Syria to facilitate aid to people impacted by Monday’s earthquake.
Martin Griffiths, the chief of the UN aid agency, said people in rebel-held parts of the country “rightly feel abandoned”.
Local agencies on the ground have said they haven’t received any foreign aid, as rescue missions shift to recovery and relief.
A White Helmets volunteer - Syria's Civil Defence agency - said a “catastrophe at this scale could have been avoided if we’d had help earlier on.”

An aftershock has been reported in the city of Gaziantep, Turkey, following Monday’s deadly earthquakes.
The US Geological Survey reported the shock had a magnitude of 4.5.
More than 24,000 people are now known to have died in southern Turkey and northern Syria.
The Syrian government has allowed international aid to be delivered to rebel-held areas, as rescuers in both countries continue to try and find people trapped in the rubble of collapsed buildings.

A large social network that promotes anti-Western and pro-Kremlin ideas in French-speaking Africa has been discovered.
Called Russosphère (Russian Sphere), it posts typically accuse France of modern-day “colonialism”, praises President Vladimir Putin, and calls the Ukrainian army “Nazis" and "Satanists."

In February 2020, a shocking video began to circulate on Chinese social media. A group of African children are being instructed, by a voice off-camera, to chant phrases in Chinese. The kids repeat the words with smiles and enthusiasm — but they don’t understand that what they’re being told to say is “I am a black monster and my IQ is low.” The clip ignited outrage in China and beyond.

A powerful bomb blast ripped through a packed mosque in northwestern Pakistan Monday, killing at least 61 worshippers and injuring more than 150 others.
The afternoon attack in central Peshawar, the capital city of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, was carried out by a suicide bomber, according to police.
A senior police official in Peshawar confirmed the number of those killed to VOA and said he feared the death toll would rise as there are still worshippers unaccounted for and bodies unidentified.
A top security official, Deputy Commissioner Shafiullah Khan, said two survivors were found in the rubble.
The mosque was frequented by security and government officials, and the victims were mostly members of the provincial police force.
No one immediately took responsibility for the deadly bombing.

As prosecutors weigh potential indictments for the attempted coup to overturn the 2020 election, the three federal probes into Donald Trump may ultimately catch up with him or his aides. Voting in the National Assembly was done manually after MPs debated whether to adopt the Section 89 panel report, which found that President Cyril Ramaphosa may have a case to answer after the foreign currency was stolen from his Phala Phala farm two years ago. Dlamini-Zuma broke ranks and ignored party voting instructions. She was followed by Supra Mahumapelo, Mervyn Dirks and Mosebenzi Zwane, while Minister Lindiwe Sisulu left the chamber during the voting time and hence did not vote. Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu while delivering judgement earlier today held that the action of MrOkupe, who is the first defendant in the suit filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission violated the Money Laundering Act.
He was found guilty on counts 34 to 59 of the charges.
The court sentenced MrOkupe, two years imprisonment on count 34 with an option of a fine of N500,000.
The court also sentenced him to two years imprisonment on counts 35 to 59 with an option fine of N500,000. The option of fine is to run consecutively on each count while the sentence is to run concurrently.

Government is working at positioning Postbank to function as a full-services bank. Public hearings were held last week as part of the process to amend the South African Postbank Limited Act, to insert the necessary changes to allow the bank to transition. Presenting the South African Postbank Amendment Bill before the Communications Portfolio Committee yesterday, Communications minister Khumbudzo Ntshavheni said the Post Office is not financially viable, and therefore cannot hold a bank license despite being the shareholder and the owner of the Postbank. South Africans made their choice between a record number of 48 political parties on the 2019 general election ballot. It was the sixth time since the end of apartheid that had the right to decide which political party will guide the nation's decisions.
Today we speak to the Top 3; their policies; track record; public opinion on their performance and trajectory for the future. We've tackled the governing ANC, official opposition DA and now we speak all things EFF which was founded in 2013. In the 2014 elections, the EFF received more than a million votes and 25 seats in the National Assembly. It's driven a policy that seeks to reverse the legacy of apartheid and colonialism, campaigns which have drawn flack from some. The Clicks protest being the latest.

The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress Bola Tinubu is now the 2nd most powerful man in Nigeria . Thanks to his great influence , Muhammadu Buhari won the country's election. As the new government sets to assume offices Tinubu's influence is likely to grow further especially on oil and economic policy.
Ziyanda Ngcobo is a young, ambitious journalist known for reporting on the scourge of political violence in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa.
The province has seen more than 500 political assassinations since the country's first democractic elections in 1994, as politicians fall prey to a deadly scramble for state resources and contracts.
Ziyanda is now investigating the murder of Sindiso Magaqa, a popular local politician and member of the ruling ANC party known for his anti-corruption work. He was fatally shot in July 2017.
As the murder trial plays out across the nation's TV screens, Ziyanda revisits the scene of the crime looking for answers. She also speaks to a politician who has become a whistle-blower against corruption and is a key witness to the murder.
Her investigation takes her to the Glebelands hostel complex, where the murder rate is four times the national average and a high unemployment rate means residents are more vulnerable to being hired as hitmen.
Many of those who witnessed these killings, or whose loved ones were lost, face threats of their own and still live in fear.
Ziyanda is determined to continue reporting despite the dangers, working all hours of the day to get the story out.
South Africa's Deadly Politics follows Ziyanda as she pushes issues of political violence into the national spotlight, determined to expose what she sees as an absolute threat to post-apartheid South Africa and its democracy.
