ЁЯМН The Ancient Sahara Just Revealed Another Secret.
In this video, I explore the brand new genetic discovery of the Takarkori women in ancient Southwestern Libya. Over 7,000 years old, these remains are providing groundbreaking insights into AfricaтАЩs deep genetic diversity and the origins of populations across the Sahara.
For too long, narratives about ancient North Africa have excluded or minimized the presence of people with phenotypes commonly associated with Sub-Saharan Africa. Some evidence including the famous тАЬBlack Mummy,тАЭ Neolithic rock art, and now genomic data suggests a far more complex and diverse reality.
From early pastoral societies to regional isolation and migration, the Takarkori genomes show that ancient North Africa was home to populations whose appearance and heritage may challenge modern assumptions about North African peoples.
