This unlikely achievement is Deadpool's potential to become the best MCU trilogy. When concerning which MCU trilogy is the best, the conversation often turns to Captain America and Spider-Man, with all other trilogies having one or two films that are considered to drag them down in the cases of Thor and Iron Man. Similarly, the Avengers series consists of four films, with the interconnected nature of Infinity War and Endgame meaning that the first three films cannot truly be classed as the MCU's best trilogy. On closer inspection, given the brilliance of The Winter Soldier and Civil War, it has to be Captain America who claims the highest honor.

But maybe not for long. With Deadpool 3's release, the Deadpool trilogy could be in contention to overthrow Captain America should the film be as well-received as its potential - and the precedent of the first sequel - suggests. Both Deadpool and Deadpool 2 are classed among the best of the X-Men franchise, with the character's meta nature, hilarious comedy, and surprising amount of heart all contributing to the first two films' success. If Deadpool 3 continues in this vein, the trilogy could stand among the MCU's best, with the unique position of having the first two films retroactively included as MCU movies due to the multiverse.
