Making African Art with Sakhile Dube - Safari and Surf - Wilderness Adventures

In this movie Sakhile Dube, guide and co-owner at Safari And Surf Wilderness Adventures, introduce guests to carving African art by using a Green monkey orange fruit.

Sakhile Dube demonstrates how he and locals from the St Lucia area use Green Monkey Orange( Strychnos spinosa) to make an extra income. When still green, the fruit is collected and hollowed out before the carving process begins.
They then use a sharp knife to draw some guidelines and start peeling off the outer skin.
The piece of art then dry as a perfect souvenir for guests to take home with them.
