Judgment expected in Malema firearm discharge case
Judgment is expected on Monday in the firearm discharge case against Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema.
The long-running trial stems from a 2018 rally in Mdantsane, Eastern Cape, where Malema is accused of firing shots from what prosecutors claim was a real weapon, charges he and his co-accused deny, insisting the gun was non-functional or a prop.
Closing arguments were heard in July after years of delays and now the court must decide whether the state has proven unlawful possession, discharge in a built-up area and aggravating offences.
