I discuss the work of scholar Christopher Ehret and others regarding the discovery of Iron smelting in Africa. The claim from these works is that Africans were the first human group to achieve Iron smelting. In the video I also discuss how this information completely contradicts the popular narrative of Africans, in particular below the Sahara, being backward or incapable of complex high achievements such as this.
